halloween festivities and a few recent sketches

Got to paint a bunch of faces yesterday (day of the dead style for myself, my husband, and my sis) for a little Halloween get-together...and carved an ok pumpkin the day before (my husband's tiki pumpkin put mine to shame for sure).  Not sure if I can get my hands on any pics from the night...if so, I'll try to post them later :)

Was fun to create things, but it's hard not to find or pick apart all the faults when you're the creator...which is kind of a lame attitude to have.  I need to just roll with mistakes or imperfections and focus on the process...a lot can be learned by "messing up" and sometimes it can even lead to inspiration to go in a different direction.

My 15 yr old niece wants her face done similar on Monday.  It'll be cool to have another shot at it with a little more time.

So, moving out of my comfort zone even more, I've decided to post a couple recent drawings from my sketchbook...uncomfortableness can lead to growth, right?

~ eye should start giving myself more credit for things...even if it's a failed attempt, it's better than none at all  ; )
