progress, a few shows, and a new piece

I've been doing a lot of thinking about how short life is and how important it is not to settle.  I started this blog about six months ago and remember how not too long before that I had succumbed to a life with little creativity in it for years, not even realizing that I could be so much more happy.  It's so easy to get caught up in the bs and to not take advantage of each day...not just creatively, but choosing happiness over negativity in all areas of life.  Though it's still a work in progress (and always will be), I'm definitely able to say I'm a whole lot happier now since I've made more time for the things I'm passionate about.

Back in October, I had this big "plan" to try to have an art show by this summer...well, I don't think that's going to happen seeing that it's May already...haha.  I am happy though with the amount of progress I've made in the last several months.  I've realized it's more about actively pursuing something you love and not just going through the motions everyday that matters.  Anyhow, I'll stop ranting now...

Some current shows...

You can check out "New Blood", an exhibit at Thinkspace through the 19th.  Several current influential artists have hand-picked emerging artists who they think we should know about.  A pretty cool concept thought up by curator, Morgan Spurlock.  Some of the "old blood" artists include Camille Rose Garcia, Elizabeth McGrath, and Ron English

Ron English - Morgan's Last Supper

Gallery 1988 has a show going on through the 26th called "Memes", where about 100 artists are paying tribute to internet jokes.

Darin Shock - You Are So Dumb!

Finished up another larger pastel drawing last week...

Second Thoughts

~ eye should get some rest...I'm tired and sick.  I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow.

love your art...when you do what you're passionate about today, tomorrow doesn't really matter...looking forward to things is great but enjoying NOW is what counts :)
